For the Ticuna peoples, weaving and basketry is a feminine craft, and the manufacture of natural fiber yarns is one of the first tasks performed by children and adolescents. This task from the beginning gains ritualistic expression. Men are left with the task of making other pieces such as masks, shields and sticks.

An interesting feature that is worth mentioning is the wide range of natural pigments that make up the collection of the Ticuna peoples, with about fifteen species of plants used in yarn dyeing being documented.
